Folkboat
Project |
This rare cold-moulded Folkboat was one of a small series built in Lymington by Jeremy Rogers in the late '60s. She came to the yard in a sorry state following 15 years of neglect. The inside was first stripped bare of all furniture and the hull taken back to bare wood, before priming and painting. The apron was found also to have substantial rot, and a new section was laminated and bolted to the centreline. Epoxy and E-glass gave added strength to the new structure Delamination and rot in areas of topsides and bilges were repaired using 3mm Bruynzeel plywood and mahogany veneers.
The topsides were sealed and epoxy coated, before priming and topcoating. The rotten deck was also stripped off and new plywood glued and screwed to beams and beam shelf. The cockpit was originally self draining, but will be refitted with slatted seats either side. Water will now be allowed to drain direct to the central bilge via large limber holes. A Yanmar 1GM diesel has been installed and new main bulkheads were fitted. The interior bulkheads have been lined and a simple interior will be fitted, with two bunks, galley and chart table. The boat will be ready for the 2008 season !!
